Wow it’s been a long time since my last post. I have been struggling to find motivation to do anything of late because, if I am truly honest, there has been lots of personal problems going on at home shifting my time and focus away from my work. It’s been a difficult few months and nearly everyday the thought has been crossing my mind to give up on it all. And each day it gets harder and harder to pull myself back into it. If it weren’t for my friends and boyfriend I would feel completely isolated and lost right now. I haven’t scanned any recent work but I thought I would post images of work I haven’t put on my blog yet. There are a few ACEO paintings and three larger sized pieces. All are a combination of watercolour, gouache, gold and technical pen.
Currently I am working on paintings which are based on popular culture. I’m particularly obsessed with Adventure Time, My Little Pony and Parks and Recreation at the moment. Although, I have wanted to make Adventure Time art for ages but only just now I’m forcing myself to do it! I will have this work ready for my next post and hopefully by them I will be in a happier state of mind :)
Hope you are all well, February seems to be a much nicer month for me so far and I hope it is a happy month for you too :)
Work wise I’ve just been doing more ACEOs as per usual… I’ve not been as productive as I had hoped this week due to a day where I felt a bit erm… down in the dumps… But I’m feeling better now so next week should see more work. Although I just realised my sister will be on half term. Eep.
Lastly is a painting I made as a valentine’s gift for my boyfriend. It’s kinda meant to look like him and me although he did take the time to nicely point out my hair is not that thick.
… He wishes he beard was that beautiful.
Oh and don’t forget about my facebook competition! It’s only on for 12 more days so get the word spreading and people to like the page otherwise there can’t be a winner! *gasps*
So it turns out I love making ACEOs (art card editions and originals or ‘artist trading cards’) ;) I spent most of university making rather large work and now I’m challenging myself with creating tiny work – to be specific 2.5″ x 3.5″.
I am building up a little collection now and have an idea to make a zine containing my favourites at some point but for now I’ll just get them all finished and put them up for sale on my etsy shop, just waiting for the protective cellophane bags to arrive.
Making these ACEOs has inspired me to create even smaller paintings and I see it as a good exercise because it forces me to become more intricate with detail. Not to mention it means I need to have a steady hand so I don’t mess anything up.
Oh and on an unrelated note, I am very much still in love with gold and halos :) plus I found some glitter glue (which belongs to my sister so shhhh she doesn’t know…) and I couldn’t help but using it <3
Btw, I found some adorable ornate frames which I had to buy and they are the perfect size for ACEOs :)
