Finn’s lovely hair

So I finished one of my Adventure Time pieces yesterday. Still got three others to complete so many sleepless nights ahead I think…

This particular painting is inspired by the episode “To Cut a Woman’s Hair” where you see Finn’s luscious, golden locks for the first time. I always felt he would suit a Rapunzel style plait marvelously! However to keep Finn’s iconic bear ears I temporarily turned his hat into a headband :)

A small update

Just wanted to post a few scans I did today which I have already spammed all over most of my social media networks. Poor people must be sick of the sight of the images by now! Still, I have my wordpress blog to spam now though :)

I’ve slowly been going through a pile of drawings which I need to paint. I thought if I had all the drawings done first it might help me work a bit faster but I’ve found I just start drawing ever more without going back to finish any… Oops. Here are some I’ve managed to actually complete…

Oh and before I forget I have put lots of original work for sale on my etsy shop now and reduced the price of some older works. They need nice homes where they will be appreciated properly :)

Still Here

Wow it’s been a long time since my last post. I have been struggling to find motivation to do anything of late because, if I am truly honest, there has been lots of personal problems going on at home shifting my time and focus away from my work. It’s been a difficult few months and nearly everyday the thought has been crossing my mind to give up on it all. And each day it gets harder and harder to pull myself back into it. If it weren’t for my friends and boyfriend I would feel completely isolated and lost right now. I haven’t scanned any recent work but I thought I would post images of work I haven’t put on my blog yet. There are a few ACEO paintings and three larger sized pieces. All are a combination of watercolour, gouache, gold and technical pen.

Currently I am working on paintings which are based on popular culture. I’m particularly obsessed with Adventure Time, My Little Pony and Parks and Recreation at the moment. Although, I have wanted to make Adventure Time art for ages but only just now I’m forcing myself to do it! I will have this work ready for my next post and hopefully by them I will be in a happier state of mind :)

What I’ve been up to this last week

Hope you are all well, February seems to be a much nicer month for me so far and I hope it is a happy month for you too :)

Work wise I’ve just been doing more ACEOs as per usual… I’ve not been as productive as I had hoped this week due to a day where I felt a bit erm… down in the dumps… But I’m feeling better now so next week should see more work. Although I just realised my sister will be on half term. Eep.

Lastly is a painting I made as a valentine’s gift for my boyfriend. It’s kinda meant to look like him and me although he did take the time to nicely point out my hair is not that thick.

… He wishes he beard was that beautiful.

Oh and don’t forget about my facebook competition! It’s only on for 12 more days so get the word spreading and people to like the page otherwise there can’t be a winner! *gasps*

Some more ACEO paintings I’ve recently finished and will be putting up on my etsy shop :) my aim is to get to 100! Still a while to go…

If Queen Elizabeth I had weird eyes and a modern haircut. Don’t forget the floating halo behind her head.

The above has a weird hybrid bear/wolf creature according to my mother… I did mean for it to be a bear but wolves are cool too ;)

Tthis one I made while watching pride and prejudice. I love period dramas <3

What I wish I had the courage to say to some people who annoy me. One day.

For some reason I think of decapitated mermaids with this one. I swear there is nothing wrong with me…

I’m thinking of selling these two as a set, would feel mean to break up a couple!

This is it.

For now ;)

Bringing it to the present

So I thought it would be best if I post all my recent scans so my blog is brought up to date on my work, therefore, prepare yourself for a bunch of unrelated images and ramblings to go along with them :)

ImageI did this painting above a few weeks ago but haven’t posted it yet so I thought it was about time I did. I’m considering whether to make prints of this one to sell in my etsy shop but not fully decided yet… Any comments would be highly appreciated on whether you think it would sell if I were to do so :D

Above are two other paintings which I have also considered to make into a print set or as postcards or something along that line. I really do love floating heads <3

A gouache, technical and gold pen drawing/painting. Will put this up for sale on my etsy shop. Still really loving the gold ;)

The other week I got my friend to watch Tangled for the first time, she loved it just as I expected! It is a rather amazing film and I love the animation on Rapunzel’s hair, at the time of it’s release it was the best I had seen until Brave came out. Merida = best hair in animation ever. Want hair like that soooo much!… I digress, after watching Tangled I felt the urge to draw a very long plait and above is the result. Drawing plaits are fun so expect some more in the distant future.

This year my sister and I have been watching ‘My Little Pony: Friendship is magic’ which is probably one of the best cartoons ever! Applejack is a mutual favourite between my sister and I, but I also think Fluttershy is adorable <3 I’m always drawn to characters who can communicate with animals and Fluttershy is just so sweet :3 Hence the My Little Pony fan art above. I’ve never made any fan art before but it was really fun and I will make sure to do some more. I’ve even put a list together of my favourite characters from popular culture… Drawing Buffy is going to be awesome.

ACEO art

So it turns out I love making ACEOs (art card editions and originals or ‘artist trading cards’) ;) I spent most of university making rather large work and now I’m challenging myself with creating tiny work – to be specific 2.5″ x 3.5″.

I am building up a little collection now and have an idea to make a zine containing my favourites at some point but for now I’ll just get them all finished and put them up for sale on my etsy shop, just waiting for the protective cellophane bags to arrive.

Making these ACEOs has inspired me to create even smaller paintings and I see it as a good exercise because it forces me to become more intricate with detail. Not to mention it means I need to have a steady hand so I don’t mess anything up.

Oh and on an unrelated note, I am very much still in love with gold and halos :) plus I found some glitter glue (which belongs to my sister so shhhh she doesn’t know…) and I couldn’t help but using it <3

Btw, I found some adorable ornate frames which I had to buy and they are the perfect size for ACEOs :)
